UPDATE: Invasive Meningococcal Disease in Men Who Have Sex with Men, Two New Cases Reported in the Past 5 Weeks

  • Meningococcal vaccine should be offered to (1) HIV-infected men who are New York City residents and (2) MSM, regardless of HIV status, if they live in specific areas of Brooklyn who report intimate contact with a man met either through an online website, digital application (“app”), or at a bar or party since September 1, 2012. UPDATE: Flu Risks for People Living with HIV – People with HIV/AIDS are considered at increased risk from serious influenza-related complications and should receive inactivated influenza vaccine. People with HIV can be vaccinated but should not receive the nasal spray. To read more, please click here.

Study Reveals Low Rate of Resistance to HIV Therapy – A statewide study of patients diagnosed with HIV found only a small percentage of these patients had a strain of the virus resistant to antiviral drugs that is used to effectively treat HIV.
