Say Yes to the Test Handbook Helps Providers Incorporate Expanded HIV Testing into Clinical Settings in New York State
The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute (NYSDOH AI) has published a handbook to help medical providers incorporate HIV testing into their practice settings.
Say Yes to the Test: Why Testing for HIV Should Become Routine in Your Practice Setting (PDF 529 KB) is now available electronically and in print format. Using charts and easily understood graphics, the book traces the demographics of HIV infection in New York and the need for expanded HIV testing to find people who are infected but unaware of their status. It includes a hypothetical case study and a resources section. The text is footnoted and fully referenced so providers can do further reading.
Providers can order print copies of the handbook from the NYSDOH AI HIV Clinical Guidelines website at: http://www.hivguidelines.org/ordering-publications/ or through the NYSDOH AI Consumer Materials page at: http://www.health.ny.gov/forms/order_forms/hiv_educational_materials.htm or by clicking here
NYSDOH AI has already created a consumer-targeted brochure and poster with the same theme. They are available electronically and in print format from the AI Consumer Materials page at the web link above.
We encourage providers to order Say Yes to the Test to help guide their routine HIV testing efforts in clinical settings.
