SYRINGE ACCESS RESOURCES IN NEW YORK STATE

Possession of syringes in accordance with the Public Health Law is legal. Persons legally
possessing syringes are not subject to arrest or prosecution under the Penal Law.

A list of pharmacies and practitioners that have been certified by the NYSDOH to sell or
furnish new, sterile syringes through ESAP can be obtained at:

Providers are encouraged to photocopy and share these listings with patients to promote
risk reduction and the safe disposal of residential sharps. These listings are provided by
county and sorted in zip code order. Information about ESAP as well as guidelines for the
safe disposal of household sharps is available at:
